The stages of the big Kora

Stage 1: Yangtsa (2010 m) across Koya La (3219 m) to QuXia (2848 m)

6 hours, 1300 meters ascending, 400 meters descending

Start of the trek is the suspension bridge across the Mekong in the village Yangtsa. A small monastery is nearby.

Start: Chorten atYangtsa, 2050m.

Terrace fields above Yangtsa.

The first day is hardest... Lunch break.

Koya La (3219m). .

View down to a village and nice terraced fields.

Basic Information:

Logistic starting point for the trek around Kawa Karpo is the town Deqen in northern Yunnan Province.

Stage 5: Camp4 - Chinatong

Stage 10: Gebu - Camp10
